Content of our seminars: Adventure Mindfulness
Human beings are made for a life of dualities of tension and relaxation.
Our organism already shows us this:
"In breathing there are two graces:
Drawing in the air, discharging it;
The one oppresses, the other refreshes;
So wonderfully is life mixed."
(J.W. v. Goethe: West-östlicher Divan)
Our lives are often driven by everyday demands and maneuver us into an unconscious constant inner tension. After some time, our organism then reacts reflexively, as it did thousands of years ago, with the "Fight, Flee or Freeze" effect.
Depending on the individual type, we then react with aggression, defence, fear and/or withdrawal and our body is flooded with stress hormones.
To break this cycle, it is important to identify what triggers which situation in us at the moment?
Life on a ship, confronted with the elements, takes you on a journey, an adventure, in which you overcome limits, (re)discover your own dreams and finally arrive at yourself.
This can be wonderfully experienced, recognized and changed during the many challenges of a sailing trip by:
- Being in contact with the present moment
- Being aware of my (new/unknown) behaviour and action patterns
- Physically experiencing myself as part of a crew under new conditions
- Perceiving and communicating my needs and limits
- Focus my attention, regulate it, implement it creatively
- Take space for myself to recognize and break through automatisms and stress patterns
- Become aware of thought cycles, fears and aggressions
- Control tension and learn to release
Themes you come into contact with on board
Life on a ship, confronted with the elements, takes you on a journey, an adventure, in which you overcome limits, (re)discover your own dreams and finally arrive at yourself.
For this we use seafaring activities in synergy with elements from the
- MBSR mindfulness training
- Systemic and integrative therapy
- Kinesiology and Yin Yoga
- Conscious awareness of the body in nautical action and mindful stillness
- Meditation while lying, sitting, walking
- Moments of silence
- Exchange of experiences
- Information about stress, dealing with feelings and the body, mindful communication and everyday life
- Instructions on how to integrate mindfulness moments into everyday life
Depending on the meteorological possibilities, we will include more or less elements of mindfulness on the days available; in the mornings and evenings there will be the possibility of jointly guided meditative moving exercises.
Why on the sailing boat?
There is a whole range of offers on the topic of mindfulness, also with a focus on MBSR. They all have one thing in common - they take place in a seminar room. No matter whether in a hotel, a mountain hut or a farm.
We want to experience something different together. The adventure of mindfulness therefore takes place on a sailing boat in places where nature is pristine and gives us the opportunity to experience ourselves and the world around us in serenity and awe.
Immediately surrounded by the elements, in direct contact with the wind and the sea, we offer not only seminars on Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) but also the opportunity to encounter ourselves in a new way.
In early summer we offer our seminar trip in the beautiful fjords of Norway. Clean clear air and colours in an intensity that densely populated areas cannot offer.
During late summer/autumn we will then be travelling with you to the island world of Greece. Here we start the day with the first mindfulness-oriented yoga exercises or a refreshing swim in the turquoise blue.
For the German winter we have discovered the Cape Verde Islands for you. Less than a six-hour flight from Germany, this group of islands lies in the Central Atlantic and offers 20-25 degrees and sunshine when everything in Germany is grey, cold and wet. For us, the Cape Verde Islands are special not because of the weather, but because of their originality, the multifaceted nature and above all because of the hospitable and open-hearted people. There is laughter and music everywhere.
What the offer includes
First of all, you/they book our above described content offer for the 7-day stay on board.
But you also book a unique experience on a 50-foot sailing yacht, the sound of the wind in the sails, anchoring in deserted bays, snorkelling in crystal clear waters, travelling with a maximum of six guests on a boat that sleeps 10-12. You can choose whether you want a cabin for yourself or share with others (there are cabins with double beds and cabins with bunk beds).
In addition, you will have to pay approx. 250 -300 euros for the on-board expenses (communal funds for self-catering and for variable ship's incidental expenses such as harbour dues, water, fuel, final cleaning,...).
We cook with a lot of local food on board the boat. As much as possible, we take into account special dietary needs such as vegetarian or vegan food.
With the meal or in the evening on deck, there is also wine or beer for those who like it.
What neither suits our concept nor us are drunken guests or hallucinogenic substances that are outside the legal limits.
